GIRLS BASKETBALL: KL turns back Bethel, grabs SPSL’s No. 9 seed

The Kentlake High girls basketball team took care of business on Friday night.

Behind a team-high 11 points from Morganne Comstock and nine from Riley Butler, the Falcons turned away Bethel 38-34 in a South Puget Sound League seeding game at Bethel High.

With the win, the Falcons (12-9) grabbed the SPSL’s No. 9 seed to the West Central District III tournament. Kentlake will open the tournament at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Bellarmine Prep, the Narrows League No. 1.

Kentlake trailed 17-13 at halftime, but used a 13-6 third-quarter surge to put away the Braves.

Cody Sisco added seven points for the Falcons.

Jackie Brown led Bethel with 12 points.

The win helped Kentlake avoid a third matchup against Kentwood, which won the SPSL title on Saturday night.
