After a 7-plus year absence, the Maple Valley Pony Baseball organization is excited to announce girls fast pitch is back.
In November, Shauna Pendleton, a mother and coach of her daughter who travels from Maple Valley to Enumclaw, Tacoma, and surrounding areas for practice or away games, contacted Maple Valley Pony President Kevin Frisone about the possibility to bring the program back.
Pendleton was elected as the fast pitch director to oversee the program which reports directly to the Maple Valley Pony Board of Directors.
“I came to Maple Valley Pony because I felt the importance of having a softball program located in my community was very significant and would be highly beneficial to all girls in Maple Valley,” said Pendleton. “I played softball growing up and it shaped who I am today. Maple Valley has a huge need for more programs for girls, and softball is becoming ever more popular among young athletes.”
“My goal with offering girls fast pitch is having a local program that gives girls an opportunity to learn and practice teamwork, dedication, hard work, and above all being an active participant in their community,” she added. “I hope that the girls learn to love the game as much as I do, make lifelong friends and have a lot of fun, just as I did growing up”
Registration is currently open for the 2015 Baseball & Softball spring program for boys and girls ages 4-14. You can register at: www.maplevalleyponyball.com
