The Kentlake Falcons girls swim team brought home a second place finish at the South Puget Sound League championship meet Oct. 26 at Rogers Aquatic Center.
The Falcons were led by a win in the 200 individual medley by junior Laura Williams with a state qualifying time of 2 minutes, 14 seconds, edging out Megan Kawaguchi of Mount Rainier who finished in 2:14.01.
Kentlake also had several second place finishes including from the medley relay of Allie Losacco, Williams, Kyndal Phillips, and Avalyne Peters, Lizzy Reichlinger in diving, Phillips in the 100 butterfly, Losacco in the 500 freestyle, Phillips in the 100 backstroke, and Williams in the 100 breaststroke. Losacco also had a third place finish in the 200 freestyle, and the 200 freestyle relay of Losacco, Peters, Williams, and Phillips also finished third.
Tahoma finished fourth in the overall team standings. Bears senior Jessica Miller finished second in the 50 free with a state qualifying time of 25.53 seconds, followed by teammates freshman Lindsey Hanger in third and Jill Collins in fifth. Miller also brought home a third place finish for the Bears in the 100 butterfly. The Tahoma 200 freestyle relay of Losacco, Hannah Adam, Hanger, and Miller finished second between Curtis and Kentlake. Diver Ashely Lewis finished fifth. The Bears Medley relay of Miller, Hanger, Collins, and Hailie Mazick finished fifth as well. Senior Allie Duven also added to the Bears’ point total with a fourth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle. Other top finishers for Tahoma include fifth and sixth place finishes in the 100 freestyle by Collins and Hanger, an eighth place finish by Mazick in the 100 backstroke, and an eighth place finish by Olivia Halbert in the 100 breaststroke.
Kentwood came in eighth overall.Top finishers for the Conquerors included an eighth place finish by the medley relay of Natalie Lesnick, Emma Vagen, Mae Waite and Drew Vagen, a third place finish by Natalie Lesnick in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke, a sixth place finish by Vagen in diving, an eighth place finish by Hannah Lesnick in the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle, a fifth place finish by the Conquerors’ 200 freestyle relay of Drew Vagen, Lesnick, Waite, and Emma Vagen.
Next up in the girls swim postseason is the West Central District meet that that begins with diving on Thursday and swimming on Friday and Saturday.
