Bears and Falcons swim strong at state

The Tahoma and Kentlake girls swim teams competed both Friday in the preliminaries and Saturday in the finals in the 4A state swim meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

• Tahoma

Tahoma senior Jessica Miller placed in four different events, leading the Bears to seventh place overall.

Miller finished third in 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, with sophomore teammate Lindsey Hanger just behind her in sixth and seventh place, respectively for those events.

The Bears’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Miller, Hanger, Hailie Mazick, Bailey Brooke finished fourth. Miller, Hanger, Mazick and Mckenzie Dress finished seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Kentlake

The Falcons’ 200 medley relay team of Laura Williams, Alessandra Losacco, Amelia Knobloch and Avalyne Peters captured its best time of the season, finishing in 10th place.

Williams captured a first in the 200 individual medley and a third in the 100 breaststoke.

Kentlake finished 16th overall out of 46 teams.
