Henry T. Gallagher

Henry T. Gallagher of Covington, WA (born 1923 in Lowell, Massachusetts) passed away peacefully on March 17, 2011.

He served both in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1961. He was a devoted husband, his wife Margerete (Kuster) Gallagher preceded him in death in 1997, and the loving son of Joseph and Rose (Minton) Gallagher of Massachusetts. Henry lived most of his latter years in Federal Way and Covington, WA. He was cared for through many years and survived by his daughter Shirley Newlin of Covington, WA. He is also survived by his grandson Bjoern Helmke and wife Gayle of Maple Valley, WA; two great-grandchildren – Brendon B. Helmke (Auburn, WA) and Amanda M. Helmke (Maple Valley, WA); and one great-great granddaughter Molly K. Helmke of Auburn, WA. Henry loved to reminisce about his life in Massachusetts as a young boy and his exciting Navy experiences, sharing fond memories with family and friends. A military honors funeral will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 12:30 PM. He was deeply loved.
