We’re switching to Fridays Letter to our readers

Recently, the Reporter and its parent company, Sound Publishing, decided to change the Reporter’s publication frequency from twice-weekly to once per week by dropping our Saturday paper but continuing to publish a print edition every Wednesday. We felt, in moving the newspaper forward, that it was the right decision for our advertisers and readers. But after more discussion with advertisers, we now believe we must change the publication day to Friday, instead of Wednesday.

In short, based on feedback from advertisers, Wednesday would be acceptable, but Friday will better serve their needs and the needs of our readers.

The Reporter’s first Friday edition will be on Oct. 17. Leading up to that, our last Wednesday publication will be on Oct. 8, and the last Saturday edition will be published on Oct. 11.

We’ll continue with the rest of our original plan for providing targeted advertising packages to local and national advertisers and continuing the community-based news and features our readers are accustomed to in our weekly print edition. At the same time, we’re increasing the emphasis on our online edition for updated and breaking news that people in our communities can turn to 24 hours a day.

The Reporter’s goal has always been to be the leading provider of community news, information and advertising. That will continue in our new Friday print publication and online. And we’ll do it with the backing of Sound Publishing, which operates 30 community and suburban newspapers, two monthly business journals, and 18 Little Nickel and Nickel Ads weekly shoppers throughout Washington and Oregon.

As always, thank you for reading the Reporter and making us your community newspaper.
