Providing every student in Washington State with access to a quality education, whether that be in the K-12 system or within higher education. This is the vision of Rai Nauman Mumtaz, the new Governor-appointed student member to the Washington Student Achievement Council. Mumtaz, a graduate student at the University of Washington Tacoma (UWT), looks forward to working with students, faculty, staff, his fellow Council members, and legislators to improve Washington’s education system.
Mumtaz is in his final year of a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies program and is also entering his second year of medical school at the International University of Health Sciences School of Medicine. He will return to a Master of Public Health Degree program at A.T. Still University School of Health Management in the fall of 2014.
Mumtaz also completed a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at UWT after earning his Associate of Science Degree at Pierce College. He received his high school diploma from Curtis Senior High School in University Place, Washington.
