Family Tree Magazine’s list of Best State Websites for Genealogy for 2013 includes the Washington State Digital Archives and Washington State Library.

Family Tree Magazine’s list of Best State Websites for Genealogy for 2013 includes the Washington State Digital Archives and Washington State Library. The list honors the 75 best websites that specialize in genealogy research for one of the 50 states in the U.S.

This terrific site has more than 49 million searchable records online. Among them are birth, marriage, death, census, cemetery and naturalization records.

Click on Genealogy for an overview of resources at the library. To find your ancestor mentioned in Washington newspapers published between 1853 and 1889, click on Digital Collections and then Historical Newspaper in Washington and use the Personal Name Search.  Other collections include WWI documents, early maps, photos and more.
