• The Maple Valley Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a dinner Nov. 8 honoring local military veterans and their spouses. More information is available from the event’s chairwoman, Patricia Munk, at (425) 432-3017.

• A Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 11 at Tahoma National Cemetery will begin at 11 a.m. and will include Governor Christine Gregoire among the speakers. American Legion Post 19 will conduct a rifle salute, and the Soos Creek Elementary School choir and the Enumclaw Gateway Band will perform.

In addition, on Veterans Day, public schools, government offices will be closed, and there will be no mail delivery.
