Bill VanRuff and Jenny Rydberg were sworn in Thursday afternoon as the newest members of King County Fire District 43’s Board of Commissioners.

Fire District 43 is served by the Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety department. The board oversees the department.

Voters approved expanding the board from three members to five in November.

Once sworn in on Thursday, both of the new commissioners got right to work.
