With the holiday season upon us, the cities of Covington, Maple Valley and Black Diamond all celebrate the season with special events.

Black Diamond

• Community Tree Lighting Ceremony

6 p.m., Dec. 2, Black Diamond Community Center

Join community members at the lighting of the tree in Black Diamond!

•Hometown Christmas

in Black Diamond

10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 10, Railroad Avenue

The Black Diamond Historical Society is putting on a holiday event for the city of Black Diamond. Donations of canned or packaged food are accepted.

• Senior Christmas Party

10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 15, Black Diamond Community Center

The seniors of Black Diamond are welcomed to the community center for a Christmas party.

Cost: Lunch is $3 and advance reservations are required.

Maple Valley

•Maple Valley Hometown Holidays

6 to 8 p.m., Dec. 1st, 4 Corners area

The tree lighting ceremony and Mayor’s welcome will kick off the season and evening’s activities. Activities includes live entertainment, the Maple Valley activity booths for the kiddies along with photo opportunities with favorite characters and Santa himself. Also adding to the fun will be trackless train rides, a horse drawn trolley ride through the different parking lots, and an Xtreme Snowboard simulator. Many shops and businesses will have hot cider or chocolate, hot soup, tacos and plenty of candy and cookies to snack on too. Please bring an unwrapped toy or canned food item to support the Maple Valley Food Bank.

Covington

• Holydaze Float-in Movies

8 to 10 p.m., Fridays in December before Christmas, Covington Aquatic Center

Float-in for some holiday fun each Friday in December before Christmas. Bring kids for classic holiday films, gams and activities.

Cost: $11.25 general Covington Residents $9.00

• Reindeer Dash 5K for food

8 a.m. check in, run starts at 8:30 a.m., Dec. 3, Valley Medical Center North Clinic parking lot by City Hall

Third annual Reindeer Dash raises money and food for Storehouse and the Maple Valley Food Bank. Pre-registration is not required. Goody bags and reindeer antlers will be handed out to the first 100 participants.

Cost: $5 or 5 non-perishable foods.

• Pancake Breakfast and Santa Photos

9 a.m. to noon, Dec. 3, City Hall Community Room

The annual Hollydaze Pancake Breakfast will offer pancakes and pictures with Santa.

Cost: Free with cash or food donation to the food banks.

• Craft Bazaar

9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 3, Jenkins Creek Elementary School

Crafts will be available for purchase for gifts or yourself.

• Gift of Life Blood Drive

12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 3, Fred Meyer Parking Lot

Cascade Regional Blood Services Bloodmobile will be in the Fred Meyer Parking Lot…stop by and give the gift of life!

• Community Tree Lighting Ceremony 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Dec. 3, Don Henning Roundabout (by Pier 1 Imports)

Covington’s tree lighting ceremony will take place the first weekend of December with Santa making an appearance. Cocoa, holiday music, reindeer and the tree lighting will all take place. Come early or stay late and shop or dine at nearby stores and restaurants. Kids can participate in a make-and-take craft.
