There will be a traffic revision on the Maple Valley Highway on Tuesday and Thursday just south of Rock Creek Elementary School.

The roadway will be reduced to two lanes – one lane in each direction, and shifted to the east side and then to the west side.

Also, for short periods of time between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., state Route 169 will be “flagged”/reduced down to one lane only (traffic flow will be alternated between northbound and southbound).

Access to businesses will remain open at all times, except for limited periods when construction work is actually crossing the driveways. Please stay alert, be aware of workers, a travel slowly through the designated work zone.

Updates on improvement project

Work has continued on the state Route 169 Improvements Project, with focus on the installation of facilities for undergrounding the utilities on “Site B” moving north of SE 260th Street on both the west and east side of Maple Valley Highway including a couple more crossings.

On “Site A” each of the utilities (i.e. Puget Sound Energy, CenturyLink, Comcast, and Electric Lightwave / Integra Telecom) are finishing their conversion from overhead to underground. Also, ICON has completed some of the grading and the wall work for the new lane and sidewalk.

There have been periodic delays or stoppage during the day while the contractor needs to move equipment in and out of the traveled lanes. However, the majority of the work continues outside of the travel lanes for now.
