Kentlake High hosts the third in a year-long lecture series featuring speakers from the University of Washington at 7 tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the Performing Arts Center.

Mercy Laurino, from the University of Washington, will be speaking about genetic counseling and health care in this month’s Kentlake Interact Speaker Series.

The series, sponsored in partnership by the Kent School District, the University of Washington and the Covington Rotary, came out of conversations Kentlake Principal Joe Potts had with representatives from the university as the school worked on expanding its UW in the High School courses. The series is intended to engage students as well as the community in rigorous intellectual conversations.

The first speaker was Eric Chudler, a researcher and UW professor who discussed neuroscience on Oct. 25 while the second speaker was Lupe Salazaar, a doctor who is part of a breast cancer research group at UW.

On Jan. 31, Kentlake will host Seth Cooper, who will discuss how to use video games to solve hard problems.

The full slate of speakers with dates and times can be found at the Kentlake High website.
