Black Diamond asks business types for development views

The newest department at City Hall this week wrapped up a survey of Black Diamond residents’ attitudes toward growth and development of the city.

The survey, done through the economic development department, posed questions to citizens who have a business license in Black Diamond or own property that is zoned for commercial uses or might be zoned that way in the future, officials said.

The economic development department, headed by director Andrew Williamson, was created last fall to help guide the city’s development. Mayor Howard Botts has called such efforts “a pro-active approach” to helping the city’s economic environment for existing and future businesses.

Thursday was the cutoff of the survey, which was conducted by mail and online. The Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce encouraged prospective respondents to take part in the poll.

Williamson can be reached at (360) 886-2560 and awilliamson@ci.blackdiamond.wa.us.
