Quick answers to three main questions:

  • Why not make up the snow days during the February break? The school calendar is part of contract bargaining between the district and its employee bargaining units; there is discussion each year about modifying the February break but no agreement to do so, which means it cannot be used for makeup days.
  • Won’t the state waive the days that were part of the governor’s emergency declaration? The state Superintendent of Public Instruction has not decided whether waiver days can be granted for the snow closures; more on this when a decision is made.
  • How will the makeup days affect graduation? High school seniors will have to make up one day but their graduation date does not change. Seniors and families will be notified when the makeup day is chosen.
