Ten churches combine for Thanksgiving eve service

The members of 10 Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Ravensdale-area churches will join hands to host a community Thanksgiving service Nov. 26.

The members of 10 Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Ravensdale-area churches will join hands to host a community Thanksgiving service Nov. 26.

The 7 p.m. service, followed by a dessert reception, will be at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Maple Valley. The other participating churches are Maple Valley Presbyterian, Real Life Church, New Community, St George Episcopal, Hope Community Fellowship, Cedar Creek, Maple Valley Assemblies of God, Hobart Community Church and High Road Church.

Pastors and musicians from all the churches will play a role in the service.

An offering will support the Maple Valley Food Bank in its assistance of families during the holiday season in Black Diamond, Covington, Hobart, Maple Valley and Ravensdale.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Thanksgiving season than with friends and pie,” Shepherd of the Valley pastor Bill Walles said of the service and social. “Thanksgiving is the perfect time to give thanks to God for all he has done for us over the past year.”

Community members are invited to attend and provide a dessert to share. Childcare for children up to age 5 will be available.
