Taste of Covington pushed back to 2012

The Taste of Covington event has been postponed indefinitely by the Covington Chamber of Commerce.

Originally set for Aug. 20, the event failed to draw enough restaurant vendors to make it successful.

“We’re exploring that and we’ll look at it again in the springtime,” said Cathy Wahlin. “It takes a long time and we just didn’t have that time.”

According to Wahlin, the event was first rescheduled for Oct. 1, but was postponed after it was learned that it would coincide with an event by the Covington Domestic Violence Task Force.

Since the Taste of Covington plans to feature a beer garden, Wahlin felt like having an event with alcohol would have been untimely.

2seven2 Bar and Grill, which had initially planned to provide the beer garden, has since pulled out due to “changes in personnel structure,” according to Wahlin.

The Taste of Covington is also being planned by Rick Oliveira of the Covington Chamber of Commerce.
