Tahoma teacher Mike Jackson will be recognized by King County at its annual “Earth Heroes at School” ceremony on April 26.

Executive Dow Constantine will present awards at 4:30 p.m. at Maplewood Greens, 4050 Maple Valley Hwy., Renton.

Jackson, who won the committee’s choice award, involved his PC Tech Repair students in repairing 129 old district computers and distributing them free to needy families in the community.

He dedicated countless hours in learning the computer systems, having his students become Microsoft-certified in refurbishing so software could be purchased at a discount, and training families in the use of their newly refurbished computers.
