Tahoma students place at math competition

Five students from Tahoma Middle School, Cedar River Middle School and Tahoma Junior High competed with over 200 students at the Math Bonanza in Auburn on April 19.

Five students from Tahoma Middle School, Cedar River Middle School and Tahoma Junior High competed with over 200 students at the Math Bonanza in Auburn on April 19.

Hitesh Boinpally (TMS), Emily Gipson (CRMS and TJH), Levi Moss (TMS), Laena Tieng (TMS), and Rohit Tripathy (CRMS) competed in speed math, mental math, individual math, and team math for students in grades 6 and 7.

Together they received 11 awards at the competition.

Tripathy won first place in grade 6 mental math and Tieng won first place in grade 7 mental math.

Boinpally placed second in grade 7 speed math and second in grade 7 individual as well as third in grade 7 mental math.

Tieng placed fourth in individual for grade 7.

Tripathy placed fourth in speed math for grade 6, and placed seventh in grade 7 individual.

Gipson placed eighth in speed math 7, Tieng placed ninth in speed math 7, and Gipson placed tenth in individual 7.
