Tahoma High graduate returns from duty in Iraq

Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Kyle J. Asplund has returned to the U.S. after serving overseas at a forward operating base in Iraq. Asplund, a civil affairs specialist, is a member of the 413th Civil Affairs Battalion, Lubbock, Texas. He has served in the military for more than seven years.

He is the son of Grant R. Asplund of Longview, Wash., and Catherine M. Keri of Maple Valley.

His wife, Crystal, is the daughter of William J. Cooper Jr. of Maple Valley and Wendy Cooper of Gig Harbor.

Asplund is a 2003 graduate of Tahoma High.
