A reminder from Fire District 44 that mail in ballots for the District 44 Proposition One Levy will be sent out by King County Elections this week.

The election date is April 23. Voters need to have their mail in ballot post marked no later than April 23 and follow all the instructions on the ballot to ensure their vote is counted.

The Levy is for $650,000.00 each year for four consecutive years. The levy rate when factored by the total 2012 Assessed Value is $.31 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation. As property values increase, the Levy rate would decrease and be less than the .31 per $1,000. The total collection rate would never increase over the $650,000 each year of the four year levy.

This levy will allow the district to maintain current levels of service. Without the levy, the Board of Fire Commissioners will authorize further cuts to the budget that will impact the district’s ability to maintain current levels of service, these cut would take place no later than 2014.
