With the school year well underway and the 2014 legislative session just around the corner, Sen. Joe Fain invites local elementary school students to submit original artwork for display in his Olympia office.
“As we emphasize science and math education we can’t forget that school should be about teaching the whole child,” said Fain who serves on the Senate Early Learning and K-12 Education Committee. “Steve Jobs didn’t build one of the most successful tech companies in the world because of his strength in programming alone. It was his understanding of how to meld art and science that revolutionized the way we interact with the world.”
Students can submit artwork directly to Senator Fain at: P.O. Box 40447, Olympia, WA 98504-0447. Local schools and school districts also have submission information and class submissions by art teachers are welcome.
Students are also encouraged to visit the Capitol with their family to see the seat of state government and view their hard work.
For more information about submitting artwork please contact Fain’s office at 888-786-0598 or joe.fain@leg.wa.gov.
