Although kids are back in school and summer vacations are wrapping up, construction on Interstate 90 east of Snoqualmie Pass is still going strong and could cause delays for drivers if planning a trip next week.
The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews will close I-90 eastbound at Gold Creek (milepost 56) and westbound at Price Creek (milepost 61) for two or more hours starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 for rock blasting. On Tuesday, Sept. 24 through Thursday, Sept. 26, starting at 6 p.m., drivers need to plan for an hour or more for rock blasting. Drivers are encouraged to use exits before the closure points to access services.
Maintenance crews will also be making repairs to several bridge decks on I-90 next week, which could cause delays for drivers. On Monday, Sept. 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., crews will close the right westbound lane near milepost 53. On Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., crews will close two of the westbound lanes at milepost 50. On Wednesday, Sept. 25 and Thursday, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 P.m. each day, crews will close the two right lanes eastbound near milepost 37.
On Sunday, Sept. 22, I-90 will close westbound near the summit of Snoqualmie Pass at milepost 52 at 8 a.m. for an hour or more. Crews need to remove trees near the highway.
For the next six weekends drivers traveling on Interstate 90 near Easton will run into delays due to lane restrictions for about three miles between milepost 70 to 73.Drivers traveling westbound on Fridays need to plan for up to two hours of added travel time and an hour on Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. On Sundays drivers traveling eastbound need to plan for two or more hours of added travel time between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Drivers will also experience minor delays during the week due to these lane restrictions. These travel
times do not include delays due to collisions or inclement weather.
During the next six weeks, drivers are encouraged to use the WSDOT travel graphs online to find the best times to travel in order to avoid delays.
Drivers are encouraged to check WSDOT’s tools frequently because construction and maintenance schedules change:
