The Black Diamond Community Center is collecting school supplies for its Running Start program to help low-income families in the greater Black Diamond area.

The Black Diamond Community Center is collecting school supplies for its Running Start program to help low-income families in the greater Black Diamond area.

The center is asking for: backpacks, three-ring binders, spiral notebooks, paper packs, folders/peechees, calculators, Fiskar scissors, glue sticks, ball-point pens, markers, colored pencils, pink erasers, No. 2 pencils, pencil boxes and pouches.

To donate, call 360-886-1011 or stop by the Community Center at 31605 Third Ave (state Route 169) in Black Diamond. Supplies should e dropped off by Monday, Aug. 18.

Applications are also available for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade who are in need of supplies. That application due date has been extended to Monday, Aug. 11. School supplies will be distributed at the Black Diamond Community Center on Monday, Aug. 25, from 4-6 p.m.
