Rotary club pitches in for school crosswalk

The Rotary Club of Covington will donate $800 to help pay for the installation of a crosswalk at Crestwood Elementary School.

Combined with funds from the Kent School District and the city of Covington, the Rotarians’ donation will help cover the costs of the crosswalk, traffic signs for motorists and a streetlight.

The crosswalk is planned at 180th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 246th Street.

The project’s total cost is $8000, of which the City Council has approved an allocation of $4,000 and the school district plans to provide $2,600.

Parents of students at Crestwood, which has an enrollment of approximately 500, helped generate support for the project.
