Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) and the Seattle Animal Shelter are teaming up to find homes for a number of Chihuahuas. The dogs were seized in October after investigators found them living in deplorable conditions in a home in Issaquah. The dogs have been in RASKC custody since then, and were living in foster homes pending the outcome of the case.

“We’re happy that these dogs have a second chance at a good life,” said RASKC operations manager Glynis Frederiksen. “Thanks to our hard-working staff and wonderful foster families, we’ve been able to nurse them back to health. The previous owner has agreed to release them so that we can find them new forever homes.”

“We are happy to join with Regional Animal Services of King County to find homes for these dogs,” said Don Jordan, executive director of the Seattle Animal Shelter. “By joining forces, we can get these pets into loving homes that much quicker.”

While the dogs are ready for adoption, Frederiksen says they will still need lots of care and attention. “They were kept in small, filthy kennels and had little contact with people or other dogs, and had little or no veterinary care during that time,” she added. “We are especially looking for pet owners who are ready to take on the responsibility of caring for a special-needs dog.”

People who are interested in adopting one of the Chihuahuas can stop by the King County Pet Adoption Center, 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent, or the Seattle Animal Shelter, 2061 15th Ave. W. in Seattle. Facility hours are posted on the agencies’ websites, www.kingcounty.gov/pets or www.seattleanimalshelter.org, or by calling RASKC at 206-296-PETS (7387) or the Seattle Animal Shelter at 206-386-PETS (7387).
