The Covington Quilters Guild donated handmade quilts to chenoterapy patients of the MultiCare hematology/oncology clinic in Covintgton on Tuesday.

Clinic officials expressed gratitude for the donations.

“We are so pleased to be chosen as the recipients of such generosity,” said Joan Schultz, acting supervisor of the hematology/oncology clinic. “Our plan is to give a quilt to our patients who will be undergoing chemotherapy.”

The Covington Quilters Guild began in 1995 with 35 members. Since then, the membership has grown to 97, according to the group.

The Guild meets the first Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Greater Maple Valley Community Center on the corner of Witte Road and Southeast 248th.

In addition to giving quilts to community and charitable organizations, the Guild sponsors a quilt show as part of the annual Covington Days community festival.
