Many men tend to shut down after hearing the words “prostate cancer” for the first time, avoiding family and friends while trying to digest fully what it means to their lives.

According to the American Cancer Society, about one man in seven is diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer can be a serious disease, but most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it. In fact, more than 2.9 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer are alive today.
