This year’s theme for the Chalk In event at the Black Diamond Miners Day is “The sky is the limit.”

Artists will be put into three divisions, children ages 8-12, teens ages 13-18 and adults.

Pre-register by going to the Black Diamond Miners Day Facebook page and sending them a message with your name, age category and phone number.

Some basic sidewalk chalk will be provided, but the event coordinators request that you bring your own non-toxic, environmentally friendly chalk. Artists are also responsible for bringing their own tools like rags, squirt bottle, brushes, ladders, etc.

Artists can work on their pieces any time between 6 p.m. Friday, July 10 and 12 p.m. Saturday, July 11 (Miners Day). The surface will be upright plywood, coated with chalkboard paint, 4 feet by 4 feet. Boards will be on Railroad Avenue.

There is no entry fee but space is limited.
