Police want information on Maple Valley man accused of killing ex-wife

King County Sheriff’s detectives and homicide detectives from San Jose, Calif., are looking for information about a Maple Valley man accused of killing his ex-wife in December.

Detectives want to speak with anyone who knows Daniel Tilbury, 33, who was arrested by San Jose Police shortly after his estranged wife, Christine Ramos, 33, was shot and killed Dec. 29, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Urquhart.

Tilbury, who was a technical supervisor for Qwest Communications in Tukwila, has been charged with murder and is in the Santa Clara County Jail.

California authorities said Tilbury and Ramos were divorced but shared joint custody of their three sons, who 4, 6 and 7 years old. Tilbury was in California for Christmas and was staying with his parents.

After learning his ex-wife was trying to get full custody of their boys, around 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 29 Tilbury allegedly went to Ramos’ house, knocked on the door which was answered by her brother and entered the home. He pulled out a large handgun and shot Ramos twice. She fell to the floor and he shot her several more times, including one shot to the base of her skull. The gun used was Tilbury’s .50 caliber Desert Eagle.

Not only did Ramos’ brother witness the shooting, according to police, so did her fiancé and his 9-year-old son.

Tilbury drove off after the homicide but was found shortly thereafter and arrested. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and San Jose police searched his apartment in Maple Valley on Jan. 5. They seized other weapons including handguns, rifles, shotguns and assorted ammunition.

Police are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who talked to Tilbury prior to his trip to California.
