Police seeking public help in finding man suspected in attempted rape of girl in Burien | King County Sheriff’s Office

The King County Sheriff's Office and Burien Police are asking the public for help finding a man suspected of attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl Monday.

The King County Sheriff’s Office and Burien Police are asking the public for help finding a man suspected of attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl Monday.

The suspect claimed to be an apartment manager and entered an apartment in the 13700 block of 12 Avene Southwest about 7 p.m. on Monday evening.

After entering the apartment he attempted to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl.

The victim had taken out the trash and was approached by a black male as she walked back to her apartment. The suspect told her he was the apartment manager and needed to check the hot water tank.

The victim let the suspect into the apartment where he attempted to sexually assault her. During the incident the victim yelled for her 9-year-old brother to call the police and the suspect fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, 16-22, with a shaved head or very short hair.

The apartment complex has regular uniformed security and all employees wear uniforms. The suspect is not believed to be an employee.

The Burien Police notified the apartment managers who in turn notified the complex residents.

Burien Police Chief Scott Kimerer said, “Detectives have been working all day on every avenue to try and identify this suspect. It is a high priority for us and the Sheriff’s Office.”
