Getting to SODO on State Route 99 will be a little tougher for southbound drivers this weekend.
Contractor crews working for WSDOT will close the southbound SR 99 off-ramp to South Atlantic Street and the adjacent westbound lanes of South Atlantic Street this weekend to pave the connections between the new South Atlantic Street overpass and South Atlantic Street.
Closure details
Friday, Jan. 3 – Monday, Jan. 6
- Crews will close the SR 99 off-ramp to South Atlantic Street from 10 p.m. Friday, to 5 a.m. Monday.
- Crews will close the westbound lanes of South Atlantic Street between East Frontage Road South and Alaskan Way South/East Marginal Way South from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
The overpass will open to traffic by the end of January. Remaining work includes sidewalk and barrier construction, and signal and lighting installation.
The South Atlantic Street overpass is part of the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program. It will help move freight and daily commuters faster by eliminating long waits for trains at the rail crossing in front of the Port of Seattle terminal on South Atlantic Street.
