A month of help for the troops

November’s a big month for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and its ongoing drive for U.S. military personnel serving overseas. Here’s what’s on tap through the Maple Valley church:

• Nov. 1: Write postcards for troops at Maple Valley Library, 10 a.m. to -4 p.m.

• Nov. 8: Donations of food and gifts for care packages can be made at the Safeway store at Four Corners.

• Nov. 14-15: Pack Thanksgiving boxes for shipping.

Christmas-related activities are scheduled for later. More information is available at (425) 413-1959.

Harvest Party at church tonight

Mountain Vineyard Christian Fellowship will host its annual Community Harvest Party from 6:30 to 9 tonight at 19001 SE. 272nd St. in Covington.

The family event will include Igames and prizes, candy and a cake dance. Costumes are welcome, said Nally Boyle children’s ministry leader for Mountain Vineyard.
