Newly elected members of the Greater Maple Valley Unincorporated Area Council were introduced at the July monthly meeting by Rob Morris, chair of the GMVAC election and citizens’ survey committee.
New members are Rhys Sterling, Lorraine Blacklock and Craig Duckering in Hobart, Sue Neuner, Charles Meis and Anne Meis in River Heights, and Todd Mitchell in Francis.
Re-elected to the council were Warren Iverson in Hobart, Steve Hesister and Peter Rimbos in Francis, and Susan Harvey in Ravensdale.

The council also discussed the King County Parks levy that will be on the ballot in August to replace the 2007 Operations and Maintenance levy and the Open Space and Trails levy, both of which expire this year. The levy on the ballot is a six-year property tax levy lid lift to raise revenue for King County parks maintenance and operations. The Area Council voted to endorse the levy.
The next Area Council meeting will be held Monday, August 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the fire station located at the intersection of 231st Street and state Route 169.
