On Sept. 16 the Black Diamond/Maple Valley Kiwanis Club named Natalie Routh as Kiwanian of the Year for 2015-2016.

She was honored at the club’s officer installation banquet.

According to a release from the club, Routh was honored not only for her time spent as secretary this year but also for “being willing to step in during the prior year to fill the ‘secretarial shoes’ of Chris Odiorne who died of cancer in 2015.”

After working to learn Odiorne’s duties, Routh continued performing secretarial duties for the club.

Routh is a sales consultant for The Covington-Maple Valley-Black Diamond Reporter.

Also during the officer banquet, Ross Olive was awarded the President’s Award.

He was presented this honor for his time as Key Club advisor for the past four years at Tahoma High School.

“Under (his) guidance the Key Club students at Tahoma have not only been active throughout the school year in their own community service projects but have been very supportive with projects of their host club,” the release stated.
