Once highly valued, horses are paying for the dire economy. The annual cost of care has risen sharply in recent years, forcing many owners to defer or reduce the level of care their horses receive.
A fundraiser to benefit rescued horses also benefits local horse owners in need.
By making this sale “name-your-price,” horse owners on a tight budget can acquire needed items, such as winter blankets, halters, heated water buckets and fly sheets, at a price that fits anyone’s budget. “This may be the only way that some folks can provide optimal care for their horses this coming winter, “says Jenny Edwards, Co-Founder of Hope For Horses. “Many people are struggling with basic costs of keeping horses during this long recession, and we want to help make it possible for them to keep the horses they love.”
The huge variety of items at the sale includes bridles, grooming supplies, saddles, buckets, coolers, fly sheets, saddle pads and much, much more. (Some saddles and blankets will be tagged with a minimum donation request.) Every dollar raised supports the care of rescue horses.
