On November 12, 2015 Lucas Martin Ryynanen, son of Dan and Cindy Ryynanen of Maple Valley, earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Award.

He is a member of Maple Valley Troop 71 and his Eagle Court of Honor took place at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on January 23.

For his Eagle Project, Ryynanen constructed a sidewalk at Vine Maple Place. Funds for the project were generously donated by Johnsons Do It Center, McLendon’s and Maple Valley Rotary Club. The sidewalk is beneficial to the shelter as it allows for easier access to a storage room.

Ryynanen is a junior and running start student attending Green River College. He is working on his AA and hoping to transfer to a four year in 2017.
