The city of Maple Valley has scheduled a town hall meeting 7 to 9 p.m. Jan 31, Monday at the Lake Wilderness Lodge 22500 SE 248th St. Maple Valley.

The topics discussed at the meeting by city and police department officials include safety on the Lake Wilderness Trail, illegal drugs and gang issues.

The meeting follows a Dec. 28 incident on the trail when 19-year-old Shayne Willis shot a another 19-year-old man and his 16-year-old girlfriend. The incident was reported by police to have started over an argument about gang affiliation.
