• Youth yoga classes

This fun new yoga class is specifically designed for boys and girls ages 6-12. The class will focus on learning the very basic yoga poses to develop balance, strength and flexibility in a non-competitive environment. In addition to having fun, students will develop lifelong benefits that learning yoga at a young age can provide. Wear normal workout clothing and bring a sticky mat if you have one. Parents are welcome to stay and watch. Classes are Wednesdays 5–6 p.m. at Lake Wilderness Lodge. Dates are Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28; Nov. 4, 18 and 25; Dec. 9 and 16. Fee are $10 per class. • Power yoga class

This class will focus on improving strength, flexibility and overall fitness through yoga flow sequences and continued work on basic yoga poses. More challenging poses will be introduced for stronger students who are looking for more of a physical challenge. This class will be offered 7:30–8:45 p.m. Tuesdays starting Oct 13th. • Women only self defense workshop

Maple Valley Parks & Recreation’s is offering a three hour workshop just for women to learn how to easily protect themselves and their loved ones. This class is taught by black belt and professional instructor John Robinson. Open to women of all ages. Moms are encouraged to bring teen or older daughters.

The “Best Defenses for Women” training program from Pacific Martial Arts Academy will show how to developing your mental, physical, and emotional responses to threat and aggression. Studies show that women who are willing to resist an attacker are twice as likely to escape injury as those who don’t. This workshop will focus on understanding and prevention, avoidance and de-escalation, and practical physical resistance.

Class is limited to 10 participants and the fee is $39 per person. This workshop was offered last spring and proved popular and will be offered only one time this fall, 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Lake Wilderness Lodge. Call 425-413-8800 ext. 200 to sign up.

• Fall youth karate classes

The fall special is new students sign up now and receive a free uniform.

Pacific Martial Arts Academy teaches in a fun atmosphere which promotes self confidence, self-esteem, discipline and focus while teaching balance and coordination. Our youth curriculum consists of basic techniques, self defense, kata and controlled sparring.

• Fast break basketball

This is a 5-on-5 fast paced basketball league that is complete with referees, regular season, playoffs and awards. League games begin Oct. 9. Fee are $475 and late registrations add $10. Registration deadline is Sept.18.
