The city of Maple Valley has hired a contractor to begin removing damaged trees within the Lake Wilderness Park.

The work will start Wednesday,  Feb. 8, and is scheduled to continue through Friday, Feb. 10.

Citizens are still urged to use caution when entering city owned park properties as the recent winter storm event has caused significant damage to trees and vegetation.

They are also urged to stay away from machinery and to avoid walking under tree canopies while this work is going on as tree limbs and other debris may fall out of trees.

Portions of the park may be temporarily closed as crews move throughout the park removing trees and clearing debris from overhead.
