Maple Valley Fire and Land Safety members responded to a report of smoke alarms at 2:01 p.m. on on Sunday, Sept. 7 in the 28000 block of Maple Ridge Way Southeast.
A neighbor reported that smoke was coming from a second floor window of a home. Firefighters gained access to the home and found smoke but no fire. The cause of the smoke was from food left on the stove. No one was home at the time. There was no damage.
MVFL said in a press release that 43 percent of all home fires are related to cooking and advised that individuals stay in the kitchen while frying, grilling, or broiling food.
