Firefighters were dispatched at 4:31 a.m. and found a 30-foot high beauty bark storage pile on fire

Maple Valley Fire & Life Safety extinguished a beauty bark fire Oct. 26 in the 18800 block of Southeast Renton-Maple Valley Road.

Firefighters were dispatched at 4:31 a.m. and found a 30-foot high beauty bark storage pile on fire. They were able extinguish by using the deck gun and with the assistance of heavy equipment to tear down the pile.Officials concluded the fire was started by heat from internal decomposition and strong wind.

Crews responded to the same location several times for other pile fires and responded to numerous calls for downed electrical wires all due to the strong winds.
