Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety will be holding a Community Emergency Response Team course in Feb. and March to create awareness and teach critical skills for assessing a disaster situation.

The course will be held from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on various evenings throughout the two months and will cover topics including general disaster preparedness, search and rescue, fire suppression, terrorism and disaster communication.

The class fee is $40.
