Maple Valley Farmers’ Market sets Oct. 3 as Breast Cancer Awareness day

The Maple Valley Farmers' Market has designated Oct. 3 as a day to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness.

The Maple Valley Farmers’ Market has designated Oct. 3 as a day to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness.

Four local breast cancer-related groups will host booths:

• John L. Scott, who has partnered with Safeway cooking hotdogs to raise money for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance;

• Karen Crowe, team captain of Everybody should be a Breast;

• Sandi Sutton and the Sutton Family, representing The Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and

• The Breast Center at Valley Medical Center.

To honor all of those touched by breast cancer, the Maple Valley Farmers’ Market Board invites all visitors to wear pink Oct. 3. In addition, the Board invites breast cancer survivors, fighters and family members to record their stories for making a commemorative.

In addition to the breast cancer booths, informational booths will be sponsored by:

• Dr. Caviness of Wilderness Animal Hospital and

• Master Gardeners.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Jim King and the Two Scoops, who will perform their special blend of blues, swing, boogie-woogie, and rock ‘n’ roll.

The will be one more Saturday Farmers’ Market to enjoy, Oct. 10, before the first season of the market comes to a close.
