This weekend marks the opening of the third season of the Maple Valley Farmers Market at Rock Creek Elementary.
At 9 a.m. the bell will ring to open the season. There are more than 40 vendors this year with offerings ranging from fresh biscotti to home made jams to hand crafted jewelry.
In addition, Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra will provide entertainment on opening day.
The market is located on the grounds of Rock Creek Elementary School, 25700 Maple Valley Black Diamond Road Southeast.
Each Saturday during the season will feature a theme. On the second weekend of the market season the theme will be Green Living Day.
As part of the theme on June 25 representatives from the King County Noxious Weed Control Program, Cedar Grove Composting, and the King County Master Recycler Composter Program will also be on site to answer questions.
Non-profit groups are present at each week’s market.
“Maple Valley enjoys a strong sense of community engagement,” said market board president Victoria Laise Jonas. “Part of our success as a farmers market is offering a platform for our local non-profit organizations to set up a market stall space for educational/informational or fund-raising activities.”
Local non-profits interested in having a stall space are encouraged to contactJonas directly.
