A man crashed his vehicle into McDonald’s in Maple Valley on Southeast Wax Road at about 3:15 p.m. today, Sunday.

The man drove off of Wax Road and crashed into the south side of the building where the second drive-through window is located.

Alan Finkelstein, owner of the McDonald’s, reported in a release three employees were injured, but none seriously.

Initial reports from witnesses indicated the man may have had a medical problem, possibly a seizure, which caused him to drive off the road and hit the building. It was reported by a witness through an e-mail the vehicle’s wheels were spinning and smoking in the drive-through. At one point the building was nearly covered in smoke from the wheels. The witness reported there were passengers in the rear seat of the vehicle that were freed by the Maple Valley Fire Department personnel.

There were no cars in the drive-through at the time.

Finkelstein wrote in his release he expects to open the restaurant by the end of the week.

There is no report at this time on the condition of the driver.

The McDonald’s is located at the intersection of Maple Valley-Black Diamond Highway or state Route 169 and Wax Road, 23225 Maple Valley Black Diamond Rd SE.

More details will be reported when available.
