Around 8:30 this morning King County Sheriff’s Metro Transit deputies responded to S 296 th St and 36 Ave S for a report of a Metro driver who had been assaulted by a passenger. The driver reported that a man backhanded her in the face as he was getting off the bus.

As a deputy was driving to the call she was flagged down by a Metro Transit supervisor at S 302nd St and 32 Ave S.  The supervisor was in his van following the suspect who was fleeing the scene on foot.

When the deputy confronted the suspect he pulled out a knife. The deputy repeatedly ordered the suspect to drop the knife but he refused and told the deputy, “fuck you, just shoot me.” The suspect, while still holding the knife, backed away from the deputy but continued to tell her to “shoot me.”  The suspect then fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

King County Sheriff’s deputies including Guardian 1, K-9 and patrol officers from Federal Way P.D., Kent P.D., and Sound Transit responded to the area to assist.

Guardian 1 spotted the suspect hiding in the woods and directed deputies to his location.  The suspect ran onto S.304th St and was taken into custody. He is a 38 year old Renton man and was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault 3 and Assault 2.
