King County Council meeting highlights | Nov. 9-13

An ordinance authorizing interlocal agreements for salmon conservation efforts in the Snoqualmie and South Fork Skykomish Watershed within Water Resource Inventory Area 7, the Lake Washington/Cedar/Sammamish Watershed.

Monday, November 9

Metropolitan King County Council – 1:30 p.m.

–Councilmembers will recognize the 50th Anniversary of Green River College.

–Councilmembers will recognize Linda Hartzell, Artistic Director of the Seattle Children’s Theater.

 

Councilmembers are scheduled to discuss and possibly act on:

  • An ordinance authorizing interlocal agreements for salmon conservation efforts in the Snoqualmie and South Fork Skykomish Watershed within Water Resource Inventory Area 7, the Lake Washington/Cedar/Sammamish Watershed also known as Water Resource Inventory Area 8, and the Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed also known as Water Resource Inventory Area 9 (Substitute Ordinance 2015-0365.2).
  • An ordinance authorizing King County to enter into, and execute amendments to, interlocal cooperation agreements with the cities of Auburn, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kent, Normandy Park, Pacific, Seattle and Snoqualmie to disburse conservation futures tax levy funds (Ordinance 2015-0436).
  • A motion approving the executive’s plan for phased removal of rail tracks from the Eastside Rail Corridor and authorizing the executive to proceed with such a plan (Substitute Motion 2015-0439.2).
  • A motion supporting 100% Talent, a Gender Equity Initiative for King County; naming King County as a founding member; and committing financial and in‑kind resources (Motion 2015-0444).
  • A motion expressing support for an expansion of the King County Homeless Winter Shelter for winter 2015‑2016 and for a continued partnership with the city of Seattle for joint funding of an expansion of the shelter (Motion 2015-0477).

Tuesday, November 10

Government Accountability and Oversight Committee– 9:30 a.m.

Committee members are scheduled to discuss and possibly recommend to the full council:

  • An ordinance establishing the King County Medal of Distinguished Service program to be awarded annually by members of the King County council (Ordinance 2015-0442).

Budget and Fiscal Management Committee – 9:30 a.m. ***Special Meeting***

Committee members are scheduled to discuss and possibly recommend to the full council:

  • An ordinance authorizing the executive to enter into the Agreement for Implementation of the Building for Culture Program by and between King County and 4Culture (Ordinance 2015-0471).
  • An ordinance authorizing the King County executive to execute a lease amendment agreement for the use of aquatic lands owned by Washington state adjacent to King County’s Maury Island natural area, the former Glacier Northwest’s site, to allow additional time for removal of the existing dock improvements (Ordinance 2015-0434).
