King County and the Cedar River Council have scheduled the second annual, “I love the Cedar River” meeting and open house at 6 p.m., Oct. 24 at Lake Wilderness Lodge, 22500 S.E. 248th St., Maple Valley.
Both the county and the Cedar River Council wish to use the time to meet with area residents, recreationists and others who are interested in the future of the Cedar River.
The open house and meeting will include presentations, a question-and-answer session and opportunities for citizens to have one-on-one discussion with county staff who are involved in managing the Cedar River and its environs.
Mark Isaacson, Director of the King County Water and Land Resources Division, will review the County’s short- and long-term goals for a safer and healthier Cedar River, and the potential changes that river users and neighbors could expect. Participants will also hear about several ongoing projects on the Cedar River. Those who attend will also learn more about how King County is working to maintain recreational opportunities in a safe way, protect and restore this beautiful natural resource for people and wildlife, and reduce flood risks to people and property.
