Saturday is Kids Day at Maple Valley Farmers Market, and a multitude of events will delight children of all ages. Kinderswimmer, a local business co-owned by Leonna Day and Carrie McCarthy, is the sponsor and co-host of the kids activity area, along with volunteers from Boeing Employees Credit Union.

Kinderswimmer’s popular balloon octopus will be on hand, and the business will hold a drawing for one month of free swimming lessons. In addition, Kinderswimmer will host a puppet play at 10, 11 a.m. and noon that features “Kosmo the Safety Dolphin.”

Scooter the Clown will make a return guest appearance to the Market and talented face painter Karen Haines from Illustriddler, Inc., (www.illustriddler.com) will work her creative magic on small faces.

Further entertainment will be provided by Real Life Church, with their people-scale train and an inflatable slide. Sonship Christian School, a ministry of Maple Valley Church of the Nazarene, will host a non-profit informational booth, and Amina and Safia Harrison, local youth entrepreneurs, will sell their hand-crafted jewelry and original artwork. Highpoint Church members will serve as volunteers for the day, and will provide additional free activities for children.

Musical entertainment will be provided on the steel drums by Rock Creek Elementary music teacher Debbie Folkerts and her students from 11:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Adults will also find much to enjoy at the Market as they wander through the more than 30 stalls featuring local produce, flowers, honey, eggs, nursery stock, emu and lavender products, prepared foods for either breakfast or lunch and a variety of artwork.

The Market is open each Saturday through Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. at Rock Creek Elementary School and is known as “the Saturday morning place to be!”
